ANDY MURRAY will have heavy-hitting boxer Ricky Hatton in his corner for his Australian Open quarter-final clash against Rafael Nadal tomorrow.

The Hitman flies into Melbourne today for a three-week holiday with his girlfriend Jennifer Dooley before he starts training ahead of his comeback to the ring later this year.

And Andy’s mum Judy revealed yesterday that former world champion Hatton is keen to come along and show his support when the Scot takes on the Spaniard on the Rod Laver Arena.

In her blog on the Lawn Tennis Association website, Judy said: “Ricky Hatton arrives in Melbourne on Monday and wants to come and watch.

“Andy’s a big boxing and Hitman fan so that's something else to look forward to.”

Murray is well-known for his love of boxing, and has watched videos of Muhammad Ali ahead of matches in the past to pump himself up.

Speaking in 2008, Murray said: “It’s my favourite sport outside of tennis.  It’s all I really look at on the internet, and all the fights that are coming up.”

This year’s Australian Open has already attracted high-profile spectators with Prince William watching Roger Federer’s second-round match last Thursday.
